Bystanders and Responders Save Cardiac Arrest Patient

Staff Report / MeridianLocal.org

In August of last year, responders were dispatched to a cardiac arrest incident in Meridian. Upon arrival, T35 found a family member performing CPR on the patient. The responders took over the CPR efforts, and Ada County Paramedics Medic 36 arrived to assist with the resuscitation.

Nineteen minutes after the initial 911 call, the patient regained spontaneous circulation. The individual was then urgently transported to a nearby hospital. After several weeks of care, the patient was able to walk out of the hospital in good health.

The successful outcome and survival of the patient were attributed to the efforts from both bystanders providing CPR and the responders who arrived on the scene. The Meridian Fire Department worked alongside Ada County Paramedics during this incident.
