**Literature in the Garden Program Thrives at Nampa Public Library**

The Nampa Public Library recently hosted a successful session of their "Literature in the Garden" program, where participants explored the joys of gardening through storytelling and hands-on activities. This month's focus was on *The Carrot Seed*, a classic story by Ruth Krauss, illustrated by Crockett Johnson. Participants read the story, learned about seeds, planted lima beans, and envisioned their own dream gardens.

The program, part of the Junior Master Gardener curriculum presented by the University of Idaho Extension’s Canyon County Master Gardener volunteers, aims to foster an appreciation for gardening and ecology in children. Designed for ages 6 and up, the activities blend creative expression, exploration, and garden-based learning. Younger children are also welcome to join when accompanied by a caregiver to assist with participation.

The next session is scheduled for Friday, February 14th, from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, with a new regular meeting time—the second Friday of each month. The upcoming theme focuses on habitats, with participants creating their very own pinecone bird feeders.

Children and families in the community are encouraged to join this engaging program at the Nampa Public Library, where literacy and nature come together to inspire young minds.
