Boise Officers Earn Lifesaving Award After Rescue

Boise Police Officers Shane Mesch and Anthony Castro-Castillo were awarded the ACCESS Lifesaving Award for their actions on September 13, 2024, at a pickleball court in Southeast Boise. According to reports from Boise Police, the two officers were first on scene when an off-duty Meridian firefighter and several bystanders were already helping a patient who had no pulse. The officers continued lifesaving efforts until additional firefighters and paramedics arrived. After a round of CPR, the patient regained a pulse and was transported to a nearby hospital. The patient showed signs of improvement before arriving at the hospital and eventually made a full recovery.
